Colby Covington may arguably be the best non champion in the UFC as he has brought it to the Champion not once but twice respectively with controversial loses to Kamaru Usman. Covingtons is as his nickname would entail , "chaos". Colby is
a fun mix of pressure and high volume striking mixed with elite level wrestling. This style has shown to be to much for many welterweight greats such as Tyron Woodley, Damian Maia , Robbie Lawler and others , by putting high output pressure mixed with wrestling to drain his opponents.Colby will look to drown Masvidal over 5 round domination by using his elite grappling.
Jorge Masvidal
Gamebred is one of the most polarising figures in combat sports, having the same fearless demeaner as that of Tony Montana with the most violent intentions in the octagon. Jorge Masvidal is known for his highlight real of knockouts on some of the best fighters in the
world such as Ben Askren, Darren Till and a doctors stoppage victory over the iconic Nate Diaz. With this being said Masvidal only later in his career became the superstar that he is now. He aims to finish Covington in the early rounds as his trike heavy style is tailored to this.
Why so heated ?
Colby and Jorge where fromer training partners at the prestigious Florida gym of ATT (American Top team) who have coached and trained some of the highest level of fighters in the world like Dustin Porier. Colby and Jorge where not only training partners but best friends.
Jorge and Colby feell out on bad terms when Colby fell out with coaches and members OF ATT, souring there friendship and brotherly relationship.
Welterweight greatness ?
Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal may not be the welterweight divisons champion, as that title goes to the pound for pound best MMA fighter in the world Kamaru Usman who has beaten Colby and Jorge respectivley twice.
What makes this fight so interesting is that this is a fight for the fans.
Jorge Masvidal is poster figure for the UFC and is arguably the biggest draw that the company has as he has some of the most iconic moments in the sport, showing the world that he is one of the most violent fighters there has ever been.
Colby Covington has proved himself to be essentially the combat sports worlds closest thing to a Pro wrestling "heel" portraying himself to fans as a cocky, charismatic villain while having one of the best pressure fighters in the UFC.
Both of these fighters boast having cult fanbases which only a few other mix martial artists really have, putting themselves with similar star power to Connor Mcgregor, Israel Adesanya and the Diaz brothers Nate and Nick.
Predictions
My predictions for this fight of two outcomes as I cant really see it going one way.
